The main purpose of the timer is to make sure people are using their pumps for maximum results.

If you asked 100 people to stop after 3 minutes, they would all say a different time, which means people are overusing or under-using the pump.

The green lights indicate the 3 minutes you should be on the pump, and the red lights indicate the time when the pump is off. This can be repeated 3 times to get the manufacturer's advice on using the pump.
